Our Story
Founded by farmers, teachers and traders
In 1983, the people of Ziope did something remarkable: they pooled their savings — cedi by cedi, harvest by harvest — and founded a bank of their own. No outside shareholders. Just a community determined to keep its money working at home.
Four decades later, Ziope Rural Bank is licensed by the Bank of Ghana as a Rural and Community Bank, supervised by ARB Apex Bank, and serves more than 42,000 customers across branches, agencies and agent kiosks in the Agotime-Ziope District and beyond.
What has not changed is how we work: loan decisions are made here in Ziope by people who know our customers, and every cedi saved with us is reinvested in this region.

1983
Founded by the farmers, teachers and traders of Ziope with community-raised seed capital.
1991
Licensed by the Bank of Ghana as a Rural and Community Bank.
1998
First agency opens in Kpetoe to serve the Agotime area.
2007
New head office opens on Main Street, Ziope.
2016
Core banking digitisation brings inter-branch banking to every customer.
2021
Agency banking network grows past 100 kiosks across the district.
2024
40,000 customers milestone — and a renewed mandate for financial inclusion.
